Clearly online reviews have been the hot topic in Internet marketing this year and one of the biggest questions I have is how do I get an early warning on any negative reviews I might receive.  The answer is simple, go to Google.com/alerts and set up Google Alerts for your name and practice name.  Any time something is posted on those keywords and Google indexes it (which is frequently), you will be alerted.  It is free and a great tool for showing you when you get mentioned.... or are not getting mentioned.

Set up is easy.  You just identify the word or words on which you want to get alerts, qualify the alerts (result type News, Blogs, Video, Discussion, Books or Everything), say how often you want the results and provide your email.  Google does all the rest after that.  Your keywords turn up, you get alerted.  And, by the way, this service is free so why pay a reputation management company to monitor the web for you when you can set up your own Google Alerts?

So, how do you use Google Alerts to understand what strategy you need to perform to take advantage of online reviews?  First, if a negative review or comment is posted with your keyword in it, Google Alerts will give you an early warning and you can focus an effort to “bury“ the negative review under several positive reviews.  This can be done with our Online Review Manager Program.

If you are not getting any Google Alerts is that good?  No, not really.  This means no new content is being written about you by consumer on the web.  This is an indicator that you need our Online Review Manager Program to help you get more positive reviews online.  Our Online Review Manager program will make sure that you are focused on getting those positive reviews and that they are placed around the web where they do you the most good.  Doing this will assure that new, relevant content for you will be added to the web.

So, I recommend setting up Google Alerts to see what people are saying about you online.  And, if you don‘t like what is being said or if nothing is being said, contact me today about our Online Review Manager program and we will get some positive talk going online for you.  For our Online Review Manager Program, please contact me at donald@dogstarmedia.com.
