We’d like to start the new year off by congratulating Daniel Morris, DO on his new web site, TexasVeinDoc.com. Dr. Morris designed this specialty site to support his vein practice in the mid-cities of Dallas/Fort Worth. The site is an HTML/Flash web site, built for both aesthetic appeal and for optimization.

We’ve received several new orders for web sites already this year. There are lots of reasons to redesign your web site. The most popular usually are upgraded aesthetics, increase user-friendliness, add major new functions and to make an old site easier to optimize. However, the driving factor in the redesigns that we have seen this year so far all have to do with mobile traffic. A noticeable group of clients are pushing past the 40% mark for mobile traffic. This is completely changing priorities regarding they web sites. Think about it. How would your thinking change about your web site if more than half the visitors were coming via a mobile experience?

Dog Star Media‘s answer to that is “become flexible.“  Our Mission Control web site design offers the ultimate in flexibility for content and design of standard, mobile and iPad sites.  Mission Control has one content manager that allows you to update all three sites at once.  So, with one effort you can update all three sites.  This eliminates the concern over mobile traffic.  With the same content portrayed in the proper format to all visitors, your focus can be quality of content.

If you are one of the many who want to redesign your web site in 2013, stop and take a breath.  Redesigns are an significant expense of energy and capital.  You want to make sure you set yourself up for the long term.  If you want an analysis as to whether you need Mission Control, please contact me at donald@dogstarmedia.com.
